Giles's fundraiser for the Christie

Giles's fundraiser for the Christie

Taking advantage of the good weather and quite literally on a roll with his fundraising endeavours after a successful Wincle Beer team climb in August; Giles is once again seeking to raise funds for a charity immensely close to his heart.

Giles and his lifelong friend Andrew Pass (owner of John Pass Jewellers) are embarking on a cycle ride across Wales on Sunday 3rd September, to raise funds for the Christie Hospital. It is an organisation that is close to both of their hearts; without this incredible charity multiple members of their close family, friends and Andrew and Giles themselves, probably wouldn't be here today without the world leading expertise and excellent care of this organisation.

So with this sobering thought and with a significant fundraising goal in mind, both felt that the challenge needed a little more endeavour than a "short stroll up a mountain" (ahem, it was quite a long stroll for some of us in the team!) and thus the frankly, madcap idea of cycling across Wales - all 150km of it from the most westerly tip of the Llyn Peninsular in Wales to the English / Welsh border at Chirk was set as the goal. In 12 hours. Something about meeting last orders "and a pint or 2" in a pub framed both the distance target and the time frame.

If you would like to donate to this fabulous fundraising effort and give Giles and Andrew some extra miles in their legs when they are striving on the 1850 metres of ascent, all donations will be so gratefully achieved. Neither has cycled this far before, but both are equal in their determination to succeed for The Christie Foundation and have used the Vince Lombardi quote "There's only one way to succeed in anything and that is to give it everything" as their training mantra.

Every single one of your families, your friends and your work colleagues are behind you Giles and Andrew and we wish you enormous luck on your adventure. Just think of the sense of achievement at the end. Not to mention the pint.
